Irvington Basement

This is a small basement conversion we did in the Historic Irvington district of Portland.  The space was unfinished with just the washer and dryer hooked up.  The floor was unimaginably out of level and 1/3 of the space is crawl space only.  We Drylocked, framed in and insulated the perimeter walls.  Over 15 bags of self leveling compound were used.  One of the smaller windows within the foundation was made larger to accommodate egress but cutting the concrete foundation and digging a window well.  Partition walls were arranged for: one bedroom with two large closets, a finished laundry/ utility room, and a large living space with covered storage and bookcases.  Floating cork flooring was laid and the staircase rebuilt for easier travel and a more finished look.  All new electrical and plumbing were added as well.  A total of 620 sf of finished space was added to the house.

Laughing Planet

Among one of our clients is the Laughing Planet restaurants which we do a multitude of different projects for.

We were given a plastic menu stand and asked to design and fabricate similar holders out of our "boneyard" of wood scraps.  Over 50 individual stands were made.

Laughing Planet does value reuse and locally handcrafted items-

Similarly we have made over 300 of these table stands used for fun facts and promotion-

Again, materials are not purchased and are saved from being dumped.

Gordon Kitchen

Here are before and after pictures of a kitchen we remodeled in SE Portland.  New post and beams in basement and kitchen/ dining allowed us to open the wall dividing the dining room and kitchen.  New custom cabinets, solid surface counters, tiled backsplash, fir flooring and new lighting all contributed to new space.

Bench and Backsplash

This job was completed in a set of phases.  Where the bench now sits was a set of french doors leading to nothing; literally a dropoff of 10 feet.  We first had to remove the doors and infill the lower section for the set of windows above.  Once that layout was determined we designed and scaled the storage/ seating bench to match aesthetics of the house.  Finally, we finished the space off with a full height, glass tiled backsplash.  Since these pictures the bench has received custom upholstered seats and backs.

Hall Bath

Here is a small hall bath in which we did an updating remodel in just a couple days.  Not much was done but there sure is a dramatic change.

Irvington basement

We complete so many jobs each year that we can never seem to keep up with photographs to document our work.  This post is of a job done over 2 years ago which I did not document at the time.  We completed the basement remodel as a subcontractor for Shelbyville including all carpentry, tile, and management.  The bar was built of fir and a mahogany top with a paperstone sink countertop.  The fireplace was detailed with concrete panels and a mantle built from a salvaged timber.  The shower was a design on the fly as the client supplied an variety of tiles of differing colors.  The original slab floor was etched and stained.
